The Chiropractic Spinal Adjustment Comparison
As you might suspect, chiropractic spinal adjustments are delivered by chiropractors. There are two significant distinctions, which make chiropractic adjustments different from spinal manipulations.
Specificity Chiropractors adjust specific vertebrae through the precise application of a short-lever, high-velocity, low-amplitude force called the chiropractic adjustment. The targeted vertebra is identified through X-ray analysis, motion palpation and other assessment techniques.
Intention While biomechanical function is important, chiropractors are far more interested in nervous system integrity and the way aberrant spinal biomechanics can interfere with brain- body communications. In other words, chiropractors have different intent when adding energy to the spine.
These distinctions may seem insignificant, even metaphysical. They arent. Spinal manipulations are general. Chiropractic adjustments are specific.
