SOT
As a specialized and gentle method, Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) focuses on the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (base of the skull)—and their ability to foster the movement of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to the brain and throughout the nervous system.
SOT also recognizes the essential role of normal cranial function in health and disease and therefore addresses cranial and sutural issues within the adjustment. SOT consists of a three-category system that is employed to evaluate, diagnose and address dysfunction within the body.
Our nervous system can only function at its peak when body structures are balanced and our pelvis is stable. This is what SOT aims to achieve.
Who Can It Benefit?
SOT can reduce or eliminate pain or disorders in the following areas:
- TMJ
- Head
- Neck
- Back
- Pelvis
- Extremities (foot, ankle, knee, and hip as well as hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder)
Frequently Asked Questions
While getting rid of pain is important, for sure, eliminating pain isn’t the primary objective of a SOT adjustment. The primary goal of an adjustment, and particularly a SOT one, is to normalize the function of the whole body.
In thousands of offices around the globe, SOT has been shown to be clinically effective.
No. SOT works to a great extent by precisely positioning the body to utilize the weight of gravity and the body to correct the body. There may be some discomfort when we locate specific points of correction. However, patients often report it feels like a “good pain” and is relieving.
